Police: 2 children shot inside car

MILWAUKEE -- Two children were hospitalized after they were shot inside a car, Milwaukee's deputy fire chief said Monday night.

It happened near N. 26th St. and W. Concordia Ave. around 8:30 p.m., police say. An unknown suspect in the area fired multiple shots, one of which hit the car the two children were traveling in. 

The children are eight and nine years old, according to police. They are expected to survive. Nobody else in the car was hurt.

Police are investigating whether the shooting was targeted or random.
