MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police said two 15-year-olds were killed after a shooting on Milwaukee’s south side Saturday night.
Family members have identified one of the victims as 15-year-old Alejandro Sanchez.
Sanchez was in high school and loved to play sports and hang out with friends, according to his older sister.
The other 15-year-old has not been publicly identified.
Police said the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday near South 14th Street and West Halsey Avenue.
One victim, despite life-saving measures, died on scene. The other was taken to the hospital, where they later died, according to MPD.
Neighbors in the area told TMJ4 News they heard arguing before gunfire.
“We heard arguing, six shots, and then saw people running,” Grey McEachern, a neighbor said. “I tried shaking him, tried moving him, but he was like a rock. It was terrifying.”
Neighbors and loved ones on Sunday came back to the scene to create a memorial in honor of the teens.
“Just so young with so much life ahead of them. Sadly, these things keep happening in our community all the time,” McEachern said.
The Sanchez family has started a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses.
