KENOSHA -- An 18-year-old man drowned in Kenosha near North Pier Monday night.
Police said in a news release that the victim was trying to swim to the break wall with a friend near North Pier. His friend was able to swim back to the pier.
A bystander jumped in and tried to try to save the victim, but could not reach him. The Kenosha County Dive team and the Coast Guard also tried to rescue him, but were unsuccessful.
Police have not released the name of the victim.
This is the third drowning on Lake Michigan in three weeks. A 16-year-old drowned in Racine last week and a 14-year-old drowned at Atwater Beach in Shorewood.
