17-year-old from Milwaukee charged with four felonies in crash at 40th and North Avenue

MILWAUKEE — A 17-year-old Milwaukee juvenile was charged with four felonies after being involved in a crash at 40th and North Avenue that resulted in a death.

Marcellus Purifoy was charged with one count of vehicle operator flee/elude officer resulting in the death of another, two counts of vehicle operator flee/elude officer resulting in bodily harm, and one count of knowingly operate motor vehicle while revoked — cause death of another.

An 18-year-old male who was involved in a crash with a school bus about 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the 4000 block of West North Avenue has died, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was pronounced dead at 2:48 p.m. Sunday at Froedtert Hospital.

The crash involved two cars and a school bus.

The vehicle occupants who fled from the Milwaukee Police Department on Thursday and caused a three-car crash in the 4000 block of West North Street also were involved in the shooting of three juveniles in the 4600 block of North 36th Street, MPD said Friday in a news release.

About 3:10 p.m. Thursday in the 4600 block of North 36th, a 13-year-old girl, a 14- year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were brought a local hospital.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested at the scene.

About 3:30 p.m. Thursday, MPD attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by a wanted person.

The vehicle reportedly refused to pull over for police when signaled to do so and subsequently crashed, causing a three-car crash on West North.
