MILWAUKEE — Mareesha Haynes, who was missing since Tuesday, was found safe Wednesday afternoon.
Maurice Haynes spent the morning frantically canvassing the neighborhood for his previously missing 16-year-old daughter.
“I’ve been riding around all night. I haven’t been to sleep,” Maurice said.
Maurice was out searching for his daughter when he stumbled upon the scene at 15th and Burleigh, where a woman's burned body was found. Police responded to the area for a report of a garage fire just before 5 a.m.
"I'm not even going to say what if, I’m not even speaking that into existence. I’m a god-fearing man,” Haynes said before his daughter was found safe.
Maurice was offering $2,000 to anyone who has credible information that might lead to him finding his daughter.
Family members say Mareesha was found at a home near 26th & Hadley. They say she didn't have shoes and seemed out of it but was alright. They took her to a hospital to be checked out.
Despite how grim it looked earlier in the day, the family never lost faith.
"We stayed positive," Anshanelia Stokes, Haynes' cousin said. "We didn't accept my little cousin was deceased. We hoped we'd find her. We had faith we'd find her. We're pretty blessed, not lucky. Pretty blessed."
