MILWAUKEE — A 12-year-old girl remains at the hospital after she was hit by a bullet that flew through her bedroom window in Milwaukee.
Police said it happened on the 3800-block of West Roosevelt by 38th Street just after midnight Sunday morning.
The girl’s mom identifies her as Tamishay Washington, a lively girl who loves to dance.
Washington was sitting in her bed when bullets entered her window and struck her. Her mom said her daughter got hit in her right leg and is doing okay.
Bullets struck their home in several spots, even breaking the window in the garage.
Mayor Tom Barrett commented on the incident at a gun violence rally.
“Anytime there is a shooting in any city it’s very disappointing and obviously seeing a child in her home shot is more disturbing than just about anything,” Barrett said.
At this time no one is in custody.
