A big victory projected for now President-Elect Joe Biden. Saturday, celebrations broke out across the country, including right here in Milwaukee.
The end of a long election cycled ended as NBC News finally calling the Presidential race for the Biden Harris ticket after four days of counting votes.
“I am glad that it’s over with," said Diane Hill-Horton, a voter.
It also marked some time to breathe after a historic and unprecedented race.
“In what lifetime do you think we would’ve had a female and a woman that is sitting in the second-in-command seat,” said Neil Kelly, a barber at Gee’s Clippers.
Voters in Bronzeville like Gee Smith knows the real work begins to unify the country.
“They got a lot of work to be done. Because. Half of this country didn’t vote for him,” Smith said.
In the Third Ward, Sarah Azar and Armando picked up champagne after four days of waiting for the result.
“We were like, ‘You know what? We need something to celebrate with'," Azar said.
