MILWAUKEE — More than a thousand businesses have signed up to be listed on the Milwaukee 2020 DNC Host Committee’s new vendor search portal. The site went live Monday after months of businesses entering information.

All sorts of local businesses can be found on the site geared to the 50,000 visitors expected at the convention.

"They won’t know where to find the caterer, the production companies, the photographers, the linen companies to put things at all of their events," says 2020 Milwaukee’s Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion Lafayette Crump.

From the beginning, the host committee has set a goal to boost local businesses throughout the city. The portal can be set up to search parameters ranging from minority-owned businesses to women and veteran-owned businesses and more.

‘We want to make it easier for them to find those businesses and we think our portal does a good job of that," says Crump.

TODAY’S TMJ4 noticed discrepancies on the website. For example, businesses that claimed to be owned by African Americans, were not.

The owner of that business told us she believes she entered information wrong. The host committee said the site is only as good as the information entered and they will work to fix any inconsistencies.

There are several more community meetings planned for business owners and more to attend and learn more about the DNC. You can find that information here.
