Wisconsin is currently experiencing record highs in the number of new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and number of patients in intensive care as of Thursday.

A new coalition group is launching a new coalition to combat the current COVID-19 crisis.

"Stop the COVID Spread!" is a new group formed by several state advocacy groups. More than 20 organizations, including restaurant and government groups, are a part of the coalition.

The group is leading an advertising campaign to encourage the community to take coronavirus seriously.

"Wisconsin is in a troubling and worsening place when it comes to COVID," said Eric Borgerding, president and CEO of the Wisconsin Hospital Association. "A situation we need to take seriously and work together to turn around."

Hospitals in Milwaukee County are still below the peak they hit in April. The alternate care facility at State Fair Park is set to open next week to ease the burden of hospitals that are running out of space in Northern Wisconsin and the Green Bay area.

On Thursday, the state reported an all-time high 3,100 new COVID-19 cases.

There are more than 26,000 active cases of COVID-19 and 907 hospitalized statewide.
