MILWAUKEE — The MaskUpMKE initiative has been working to assemble and distribute surgical masks across the area. To this day, they have already distributed nearly 1.5 million masks.

With this initiative, volunteers can register to pick up mask kits from Fiserv Forum and assemble them. These masks are then donated to organizations that made a request through the initiative's website.

Since the start of the initiative, more than 1,100 volunteers have signed up to help and they have spent more than 21,000 hours assembling these masks for local organizations.

Volunteers can still sign up to assemble masks through Monday, May 18. The organizers of the initiative are hoping to distribute an additional 1 million masks.

If you wish to register to pick up assembly kits from Fiserv Forum, click here.

The kits can be picked up anytime between 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. Once the masks are assembled, they should be dropped back off at Fiserv Forum. The last day for drop off will be May 23.

Kits will not be given out to anyone who did not register.
