Jaycees to hold blood drive instead

LAKE GENEVA — The Lake Geneva Venetian Festival has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

The Lake Geneva Jaycees announced in a Facebook post that while they had held out hope the 58th Annual Festival could lessen the economic impact
on local businesses, they could not find a way to responsibly and safely hold the event.

"We take our leadership role within the community seriously, and it would be irresponsible to put the health of our community at risk for a festival," the statement says. "Having reviewed the CDC recommendations, we do not believe that any precautions or policies that we are able to put into place would create a sufficiently safe environment and therefore, Venetian Festival is no longer viable this year."

Instead, the Jaycees say they plan to serve the needs of the community by organizing a blood drive on Thursday, July 30 at the American Legion Frank Kresen Post 24. Visit their website to sign up.
