MILWAUKEE — A female entrepreneur is doing her part to fight the financial effects of COVID-19.

Kiley Peters, owner and CEO of Brainchild Studios, has dedicated her marketing and website development company to help millennial "momprenuers" and nonprofits that support women and children.

She developed a website within an hour of realizing this pandemic could have far-reaching effects on small businesses in Milwaukee County.

“Everyone was getting really worried and we were thinking as a group we were like well what can we do?"

Her business created the entire branding and website MKEfund.org

There you can search for businesses in Milwaukee County that are women-owned, minority-owned, or veteran-owned.

Peters adds, “The investment that we made, if we were to charge a normal client, would be about $16,000 right now.”

This includes the ability to search a business based on location or industry.

This allows you to find a business you want to succeed by donating directly to the company or buying their products.

80% of the submissions on the website so far, are women-owned, including Nourish Naturals.

Owner Jamie Andrzejewski says 90% of her revenue channels shut down when coronavirus hit, so when she heard about MKEfund.org, “I immediately signed up when I heard about it.”

Sales of her natural hand sanitizer has blown through the roof.

She adds, “I have been blown away by the level of support in Milwaukee for entrepreneurs, and the entrepreneurial community, and especially women supporting women.”

Peters says the majority of the Milwaukee County businesses on this website make less than $200,000 in revenue each year. Click here to learn more.
