SAUKVILLE, WI - If you're thinking of adopting a pet over the holidays, the Wisconsin Humane Society is encouraging people to give it a go as hundreds of pets across the state are still looking for a forever home.
"Contrary to popular belief, adoptions during the holiday season and even gift adoptions can make for incredibly successful placements," Angela Speed said.
Angela speed, VP of Communications for the Wisconsin Humane Society, said adopting a fur baby like an orphaned playful feline this time of year is ideal -especially since most families spend more time at home during the holidays.
"If you can't adopt during this season we also encourage people to consider fostering an animal whether it's for a weekend or for several weeks," said Speed. "We have so many animals in need of foster care."
The Wisconsin Humane Society provides lifesaving services for almost 40,000 animals each year while matching about 10,000 homeless pets with new families. And, Speed said if you're a little hesitant about adopting, there's no harm in just taking the leap.
"If you're on the fence, don't be afraid to just give it a try," she said.
