MILWAUKEE — If you need a costume idea for your dog, here's an idea: dress them up as Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) buses.
The idea from MCTS came about ahead of the Wisconsin Humane Society's upcoming "Halloween Howl" events.
The first festive fundraiser, which includes a canine costume contest, is happening on October 24th at WHS's Milwaukee campus. There’s another event on October 28 at WHS's Ozaukee campus. Space is limited for both events.
You can also bring your dog to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) on October 27 for a Halloween Photo Fundraiser.
If you're dressing up your pet, experts recommend the following safety tips:
- Try something simple first, like a bandana, then work your way up to a full costume
- Never choose costumes that limit your pet's sight, mouth, hearing or movement
- Make sure the costume doesn't have loose pieces that could be swallowed
- Always monitor your pet while they're in costume
Finally, remember to always keep Halloween candy out of reach. Things like suckers and chocolate can be toxic for animals.
