MILWAUKEE — The remains of a man were found inside an abandoned home after a suspicious fire on Milwaukee’s north side. It happened at 5:48 Friday morning near 24th and Capitol.
“Somebody called me and told me somebody passed away down here,” John Peete, a neighbor, said.

The Milwaukee Fire Department and the state fire marshal are working with Milwaukee Police to determine a cause. MPD also is searching for suspects and a motive.
“I kind of feel bad (about) that because I don’t want nobody to (pass) away. That’s kinda sad. I don’t know. It’s kind of weird,” Peete said.
MFD said arson may have been a factor, but at this point they aren’t ruling out anything until a thorough investigation is complete.
The Milwaukee Medical Examiner has scheduled an autopsy for the victim today.
