It's an odd mix, alcohol and throwing sharp metal blades but that's what Milwaukee's new ax-throwing bar is all about.
AXE MKE is a unique Milwaukee drinking experience similar to paint and wine studios, but with beer and axes.
It's the ultimate lumberjack experience and we learned that it really can be for anyone.
It doesn't take as much strength as you might think to throw an axe, in fact, in our experience it really didn't take any at all. Instead, the technique is all about momentum and using body weight to toss the axe at the wooden target.
When we tried it out many people said they found it easier to do when they didn't spend too much time planning out their throw and just went for it instead, hence why it's an ideal activity for drunk people.
The bar has a group of on-staff axe masters who can show you the ropes of ax-throwing. Once you get the hang of it you and your group can fill out scorecards and get a little competitive.
Oh, and don't forget to ring the bell if you get a bullseye. Make sure everyone there knows you've mastered the trade.
