WEST ALLIS, WI — Approximately 250 vendors have set up shop at the Expo Center at the Wisconsin State Fair, selling everything from powder nail polish to brooms that don't need a dustpan.
"What is the weirdest thing that you have seen here at the Expo Center?" TODAY'S TMJ4 Consumer Investigator Kristin Byrne asked a woman shopping.
"A vertical garden," she said.
Some products promise to rid you of pain like temporary tattoos and bracelets that claim to fight off the earth's electromagnetic fields.
"That same frequency is in our bracelets," the vendor said. "I have a machine that puts the frequency in the bracelets and the tattoos."
Other products on display included drawstring makeup bags.
"It expands, so everything in your makeup bag or travel bag is right in front of you," the vendor said."When you're done, draw the strings and everything is inside."
Shoppers were checking out hair extensions that don't have to be glued, taped or clipped into your hair. They're held together by a nearly invisible headband.
But, not everyone walking around the Expo Center is there to buy.
"I've seen that stuff on ‘As shown on TV,'" one man said."It still looks like junk."
Some, however, are committed to spending money.
"We always leave with a lot," one shopper said.
