Need to return a purchase or a gift? Here are a few things that you can do to help this process go more smoothly:
Do not procrastinate. Some items, such as holiday-themed merchandise must be returned before Christmas. Also, if you wait too long to do a return and a store goes out of business, you may be stuck.
Make sure that you have receipts, and that all packaging and parts are with the item. If you do not have a receipt, a store may be able to look up the purchase if you can provide the credit card used for the transaction. If you do not have a receipt or a credit card, a store may offer an in-store credit, but this credit is often for the lowest price offered on the item.
Consider an even exchange. If your local store does not have a replacement, ask if they can assist in locating the item online or at another store.
If you are returning something ordered online, get a receipt for the return, and keep copies of tracking information.
If you experience an issue with a return and cannot get help from the merchant, contact consumer resources such as ourCall 4 Action office for help.
