2 Milwaukee County Sheriff Deputies injured after vehicle strikes squad car on I-43

MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- Two Milwaukee County Sheriff Deputies were injured Sunday morning while guarding a crash scene on the freeway.

It happened just before 9:30 a.m. on I-43 southbound at Port Washington Road.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, deputies were seated in the front seats of the squad car and a civilian was in the back passenger seat when a vehicle traveling southbound struck the squad car.

The Deputy Sheriff seated in the squad’s front passenger seat sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the Milwaukee County Regional Medical Center and released. The Deputy Sheriff sitting in the driver’s seat also sustained non-life threatening injuries but did not require treatment. The civilian in the rear passenger seat was not injured.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Deputy investigating the crash issued the driver of the striking vehicle a citation for driving too fast for conditions.

This is the fourth crash involving a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office squad or Deputy in the past 23 days.
