GREEN BAY -- Top wide receiver Jordy Nelson won't make any promises about suiting up for the Green Bay Packers in Atlanta this Sunday, but things are at the least looking up.
When asked if he'd play Sunday in the NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons, Nelson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sunday night that "there's no guarantees" but his ribs were doing "a lot better than [last] Monday."
The Packers didn't need Nelson to dispatch the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs Sunday, but there's no doubt their offense would be bolstered by his return from a rib injury suffered during Wild Card Weekend.
Nelson was ruled out for yesterday's contest Friday, with Coach Mike McCarthy telling the media "frankly, [team doctors] just would not medically clear him," though Nelson apparently "feels better every day." The pass catcher was hurt when Giants defensive back Leon Hall hit him in the ribs. That hit was not fined.
Nelson's 14 receiving touchdowns in the regular season led the National Football League. The Packers take on the Falcons in the NFC Championship Game at 2:05 p.m. Sunday.
