“Run the table.” That’s what Aaron Rogers said.
Those three little words changed everything for Packers nation, one generous local businessman, and countless hungry people.
Steve Arenzon bleeds green and gold – so when Crosby kicked the 51 yarder – an idea overcame the owner of Wisconsin Knitwear. "Run the Table" hats.
He remembers, “I came in first thing in the morning, I started drawing it out, making all the needles, getting it all prepared for the machine, and we started running it. I posted a video of the machine running, the hat coming out, the rest is history.”
Word got out on Facebook that he was giving away free hats. Friends flocked to collect, offering a charitable contribution. Arenzon elected a local food pantry.
One of those friends, David Lowe, seemed in awe, “All of us wonder when is he doing the work for profit.”
But giving back is just his nature, a value instilled by an immigrant father who began the business almost 5 decades ago, weaving together his American dream.
Arenzon insists, “I want it made in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where it belongs. We’re cold. You know, it’s cold.”
Companies like this are an endangered species in the tapestry of trade, the last of its kind in the state, but Arenzon hopes a simple message can stitch together the fabric of society that seems so torn apart.
“We’re on an emotional high. Let’s all harness that and just enjoy and be nice to one another. Let’s run the table and have some fun,” he said.
