GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers have released punter Tim Masthay, the team announced Tuesday.

Masthay was released to make room for punter Jacob Schum, who the team claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Masthay has played his entire six-season career with the Packers, appearing in 96 regular season and 12 postseason games. Before Tuesday, he was one of just a handful of players who remained from the winning Super Bowl XLV roster.

Schum played all 16 games for the Bucs last season, averaging just under 42 yards per punt. He was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns, and has also spent time with the New York Jets.
