ESPN NFL analyst Louis Riddick was not short on praise for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers offense Monday.
On ESPN's daytime show "NFL Live," host Wendi Nix asked if it was an overreaction to think Rodgers could set the single-season record for touchdown passes in a season (Peyton Manning tossed 55 touchdowns in 2013).
Riddick, a former NFL player and front office executive, believed Rodgers has the chance to achieve that goal this season.
"Defenses are going to be more predictable now because they are going to leave base personnel on the field a little bit more because they think [the Packers] can run the ball, especially with two tight ends [Lance Kendricks and Martellus Bennett]," Riddick said.
"And now the middle of the field is there to be had, [which] is something that Aaron hasn't had [before in his career]... Now he has the whole width of the field to work with, and he has a running game.
"I think at the end of the year... Aaron Rodgers can throw 60 touchdown passes."
Rodgers threw a career-high 45 touchdown passes in 2011, and led the league with 40 touchdowns in 2016.
