JANESVILLE, IOWA -- Aaron Rodgers is a hero on the football field to Green Bay Packers fans, but he's also now a hero to Laura Roberts' sports literature class in Janesville, Iowa. Her students will no longer have to take a final exam this semester, thanks to a Twitter shoutout from the two-time NFL MVP.
Roberts was discussing the day's sports news with her class when a story about Kobe Bryant getting another class' final cancelled was brought up. Her students asked her if they could do the same.
"The students all know that I love Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, so that's why they picked him," Roberts told TODAY'S TMJ4.
That's when sports lit student Peyton Meyer sent a fateful message out into the Twitterverse:

Though the Super Bowl MVP no doubt receives hundreds of messages each hour, this one caught his eye. Rodgers sent out the following message, complete with just a touch of snark:

"I'm sure a sports lit final is very important, but here you go," Rodgers quipped, before adding the hashtag "#PayItForwardFriday."
Though it would perhaps be easy for Roberts to renege on her pledge, she says she's standing by it:
"I made a deal and I have to keep my word," she says. "I did actually cancel the final!"
