The Milwaukee Bucks will play game two of their first-round playoff series against Toronto tonight.
The Bucks won the first match up in the seven-game series, on the road, over the weekend. Game two is also at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre.
At Gee’s Clippers near MLK Drive and North Avenue, excitement about the Bucks is high.
The barber shop is an official partner of the team.
“My personal opinion is if we win this series, everybody in the Eastern Conference trembles,” said barber Neil Kelly. “Nobody wants to play the Bucks.”
Gaulien “Gee” Smith, the shop’s owner, said he thinks the team’s game one win shocked basketball fans around the country.
Milwaukee is the number six seed in the Eastern conference. The Toronto Raptors are the three seed.
“It puts the Bucks and the City of Milwaukee in the limelight – in the forefront,” Smith said.
He added fans should be excited about the youth of the team going forward.
“Milwaukee is a team that’s got a really bright future,” Smith said.
So how far will they go in this year’s NBA Playoffs?
“I’m a die-hard Bucks fan. I’m with them until the wheels fall off,” Smith said.
