MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers just announced the new team logo and uniform in honor of the 50th season of Brewers baseball.

The 50th season of Brewers baseball will be here before we know it. In the mean time, however, the Brewers organization is already getting fans excited with the unveiling of the new team logo and uniforms.

According to a press release, the team's new look restores a logo that is deeply rooted in the Milwaukee community. This new look takes the iconic ball and glove look to a new, modernized level.

The original ball and glove logo was introduced in 1978, and now, in 2020, we will see this new modernized look of an original historic idea.

“As we reflected back on fifty years of the Brewers in Milwaukee, we turned to the past to inform our future. Our fans, our city and our state have been the fabric of our franchise since 1970, and they are the inspiration for our new look,” said Brewers Principal Owner Mark Attanasio.

In addition to a new logo, the Brewers also unveiled additional logos that will be used on both the new uniforms and Brewers merchandise.

According to the press release, "The team’s new color palette is anchored by navy, which the Brewers have proudly worn since 1994. Accompanying navy are the colors yellow and royal blue. The yellow represents our city’s rich brewing legacy and joyful nature, while the royal blue represents the era that produced two postseason berths and a World Series appearance."

Finally, Ryan Braun, Brandon Woodruf, Brent Suter, and Keston Huira unveiled the new uniforms during a 50th Celebration at Miller Park.

While most of the colors stay the same, there are some notable changes to the jerseys.

The home jerseys are a cream color instead of white to honor Milwaukee being the "Cream City." In addition, the pinstripe uniforms feature navy blue stripes instead of royal blue as they have been in the past.

The away jerseys proudly read Milwaukee across the chest, and feature the new Wisconsin state patch on the sleeve. Alternate marks have also been used on the uniforms, such as the refreshed Barrelman and brand new wheat ball logo, inspired by Milwaukee's brewing tradition. In addition, the navy blue away jerseys will be paired with a two-tone hat as a nod to the hat worn from 1978-84.

Attanasio said the idea of a new logo came up back in 2015 when the team was in a rebuilding phase. He figured you might as well pair an exciting logo with an exciting team.

"We are looking to win the World Series with this ball and glove," said Attanasio.
