A Milwaukee man has been found guilty of murdering a woman and her 4-year-old daughter last year.

Patrick Fowler took the stand Thursdayin his own defense  to claim he was innocent in the stabbing deaths of Jessica Ellenberger and Madyson Marshel. It only took the jurors a few hours of deliberations to come to the guilty verdicts on Friday. The decision came just minutes after they reviewed video of Fowler confessing to the crimes.

“I grabbed the knife and a monster came out of me,” Fowler told detectives.

Fowler gave a blank stare to the judge as he found out his fate. Back in March of 2016, Fowler brutally stabbed Jessica Ellenberger and her daughter Madyson Marshel to death after an argument. He set the house on fire and fled the state.

“Patrick Fowler did kill these people, that’s why I have a mountain of evidence to prove it,” said prosecutor Michael Lonski.

After the courtroom cleared, the victims’ family celebrated justice being served.

“He took two people away from us well now let’s take his life away from him because he deserves to get where he’s going,” said the victim’s mother Annette Ellenberger.

Sentencing is set for May 5. Fowler told the judge he plans to appeal the verdict.
