MANITOWOC -- Manitowoc police are warning the public about the escape of what the department calls a "violent sexual offender."
Rene Antero Rodriguez reportedly slipped off his electronic monitoring device and was not at his assigned residence when officials visited for a scheduled check. His whereabouts are unknown.
Rodriguez has a lengthy criminal record which includes assault, robbery, theft and burglary. He's also known to use edged weapons, according to a news release.
The criminal was staying at a home on HWY 151 since last fall. Anyone who may have information should contact local police or dial 911.
