MILWAUKEE -- High-profile workplaces like newsrooms and Hollywood are in the spotlight, after the most recent allegations against NBC anchor Matt Lauer.
Milwaukee Lawyer Peter Fox believes the latest slew of allegations is moving the pendulum even further in favor of believing a worker who says they have been sexually harassed.
He says documentation is key to moving cases forward.
Wisconsin law uses broad terms of what sexual harassment is, which includes unwelcome, hostile comments or behavior of a sexual nature.
He gave us an example.
"'You look beautiful today.' Twenty years ago when someone said that, that's a compliment. But now they've interpreted, what is the reasonable person standard? Would a reasonable person consider that to be harassment under the circumstances?" said Fox.
A leader with a grassroots women's advocacy organization called 9to5 gives advice to women on how to support their claims. This includes making sure to document any kind of offense you experience with dates and times. Having witnesses willing to come forward will also help.
