WAUKESHA COUNTY -- University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student is in jail, accused of driving drunk and killing a Milwaukee mother of two.

"I knew I shouldn't be driving... I was too drunk to drive" -- that's what Abby Dominski told Waukesha County Sheriff's Deputies hours after causing an accident that killed Candace Franckowiak, 44.

One bad decision that has left Candace's two children without a mother.

The crash happened on Highway 164, near South Jay Lane, in the Town of Lisbon Monday night. Detectives say Dominski's Cadillac Escalade crossed the center line and caused a chain reaction crash.

Dominski had to be airlifted to Froedtert Hospital, where the criminal complaint says she didn't remember being in an accident.

According to the complaint, Dominski had been at the Brewer's game, and Kelly's Bleachers with her boyfriend.

She initially told investigators she "didn't have that much to drink...two to three vodka lemonades."

Later, she changed that to five beers, a vodka lemonade, and a shot of vodka.

She told detectives she takes anxiety and bipolar medication that magnifies the effects of alcohol. And that she was "angry at her boyfriend for letting her drive, because she felt she was drunk."

Another person was nearly killed in the crash. Ted Krenz, of Waupun, swerved to get out of Dominski's way, and rolled his car into a ditch. He escaped with bumps and bruises. But he says he's unable to stop reliving the accident, and is devastated that someone else lost their life in it.
