You picked the wrong day in Wisconsin if you wanted to get your license renewed or other state services Friday.

Several state agencies experienced web application outages. The problems started around 8:30 a.m. but were back online by 12:30 p.m.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Administration, state agency websites and processing functions were unavailable while they try to resolve the issue.

TODAY'S TMJ4 spoke with several people at the DMV on Teutonia Avenue who were turned away.

"I lost my wallet yesterday and I came to get new IDs so I can get my replacement cards, but because of the fact their system was down, I was unable to do so," DMV customer Hassan Kahn said.

Customers were able to get titles and tag renewals, but not licenses or IDs.

All because of a hardware failure, the state says. After identifying the problem the state immediately engaged a team of technicians to work with the hardware vendor for service restoration.

The state says they do have several contingency plans and backup that can be used when something isn’t working. They put those plans into action.
