Waukesha police say a couple of porch pirates won't be stealing anymore packages and it's all thanks to a teacher at Trinity Lutheran School.

Waukesha PD Capt. Dan Baumann said they recently arrested the couple and they're connected to a string of mail thefts.

"This is the modern day retail theft where people will drive around they see a crime of opportunity with a package being left on the doorstep. Anything from health and beauty aides to snack material, and one of them was a granola bars, small electronic devices," Baumann said.

A teacher at Trinity Lutheran School noticed them take a package off of a porch on Baxter belonging to Sandi Lipinski in the middle of the day. The teacher called police.

"Just grateful, it's creepy to think they were up on my porch," Lipinski said.

But they were and after driving away police caught up with them and found lots of other packages.

"Approximately 10 to 15 that we can identify didn't that didn't belong to them," Baumann said.

Baumann said the couple is linked to a theft from another home in town from a week ago where a Waukesha mail carrier stopped them, because of the teacher's awareness Lipinski decided to give her a thank you gift.

Baumann said some safe options for families can be  having their packages delivered to work.

Having a trusted neighbor pick up your package or send it to a relative's home who you know will be home.

This investigation is ongoing. As of right now the couple hasn't been charged yet.

All packages have returned to their rightful owners.
