The Zoo Interchange project is about to reach a huge milestone before the start of the busy travel summer season.

Two major system ramps in the Zoo Interchange as well as the Wisconsin Avenue bridge are scheduled to reopen before Memorial Day weekend, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said Friday.

With these new project developments, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says drivers should note the following changes with each project:

  • I-41 SB to I-94 EB system ramp
    • The ramp will be on the right hand side for both entering from I-41 southbound and exiting onto I-94 eastbound
    • Once on the ramp, drivers wishing to access I-94 eastbound will need to be in the left lane, while drivers wishing to access I-94 westbound will need to be in the right lane

  • I-94 EB to I-41 NB system ramp
    • The ramp will be on the right hand side for both entering from I-94 eastbound and exiting onto I-41 northbound
    • Once on the ramp, drivers wishing to access I-41 northbound will need to be in the right lane, while drivers wishing to access I-41/894 southbound will need to be in the left lane

  • Wisconsin Avenue bridge over I-41
    • Prior to Memorial Day weekend, the Wisconsin Avenue bridge over I-41 will reopen to traffic.
    • The 97th Street will remain a dead-end street from Wisconsin Avenue, so drivers should utilize 95th Street for access between Bluemound Road and Wisconsin Avenue.
    • There will be a new traffic signal at Wisconsin Avenue and 95th Street.

For updates on the Zoo Interchange project, drivers should visit the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's website.
