GERMANTOWN -- It has been a tumultuous journey for $70,000 worth of cheese that was stolen from Germantown last month.
First the cheese was stolen from D&G Transportation. It was found in the City of Milwaukee just a few days later, but what looked like a happy ending now has turned to tragedy: The Post-Crescent reports none of the cheese was salvageable, and it was tossed into a landfill.
It's not yet known what will become of the large quantity of Parmesan cheese that was also stolen last month - $90,000 worth of the stuff was recovered in Grand Chute.
No arrests have been made in either case.
So-called "cheese heists" don't just happen in America's Dairyland - a whopping four tons of luxury cheese was stolen from France last year.
