A Kewaskum woman is going to prison for her role a fatal texting and driving accident two years ago.

Heather Cleveland, 27, was sentenced to three years in prison and two years of extended supervision Friday.

Cleveland was convicted of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle in March.

Cleveland was traveling on State Highway 23 from Fond du Lac to Ripon in June 2014 at about 70 mph when her SUV read-ended a pickup that had stopped in order to make a left turn.

The impact pushed the truck into the path of another vehicle driven by 63-year-old Linda Trotter of Ripon. Trotter died at the scene.

Phone records show Cleveland was sending and receiving text messages moments before the crash.
