MILWAUKEE -- A woman was taken to the hospital after crashing her SUV into a home on Milwaukee's north side. Officials say it happened at about 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the 3700 block of 51st Blvd.

The driver, a woman in her 50s, was taken to the hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The woman's daughter tells TODAY'S TMJ4 that her mother may have been hit by a car that ran a stop sign, causing her to go off the road and into the home.

Kelle Williams is the homeowner's daughter, and says normally in the middle of the day, her father sits in his recliner in the exact spot where the car hit the home.

"The front wheel is actually sitting on top of the recliner so he's typically there," she said. "He left 15 minutes before this actually happened so thank God that he was not here."

No one else was home at the time.

Williams lives next door to her father and says the exact same thing happened to her three years ago when a drunk driver crashed into her home on New Year's Day.

"I don't know what the odds are but they're not in our favor," she said.

She also said drivers often go too fast down 51st Bouelvard.

"They kinda fly," she said. "I have two daughters, I don't let my girls play in the front because people really do kinda fly."

Milwaukee fire successfully removed the car from the home but building inspectors had to first determine if the home was safe to enter.

Williams says insurance will cover the cost of the damage but her parents will likely be out of their home for six months.
