A police officer can never predict what’s going to happen on any given shift, but it’s safe to say Sunday had to be out of the ordinary for Mike Hill.
The South Milwaukee Police officer was called to Mill Pond Sunday morning to help rescue several duckling stuck at the bottom of a storm drain.

Rita Wiskowski was driving past the pond when she noticed a mallard duck acting agitated near the sewer grate, with her mate looking equally flustered nearby.
The avid bird watcher called police, and Hill responded, using a shovel to pry open the drain, climbing into the hole and setting the ducklings free.
