WAUKESHA -- Anissa Weier, one of two Waukesha girls accused of trying to kill their classmate to please horror character Slender Man has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
 
The girl entered her plea in Waukesha County court on Friday. Judge Michael Bohren appointed two doctors to examine her and turn in a report on her mental status by Oct. 6.
 
Weier and her friend, Morgan Geyser, have been charged with attempted homicide in connection with the May 2014 attack on Payton Leutner. Prosecutors allege the girl and Geyser lured Leutner into a wooded Waukesha park and stabbed her multiple times. All three girls were 12 years old at the time.
 
Geyser also has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
