MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee-area residents craving Shake Shack burgers and milkshakes will have to wait only a few a more weeks.

A company spokesman tells the Milwaukee Business Journal that their first Wisconsin location will open sometime in December -- although a firm opening date has not been finalized.

Shake Shack announced six months ago that it would open its first Wisconsin location at 220 E. Buffalo Street in Milwaukee’s Third Ward by the end of this year. Since then, construction on the restaurant site has progressed and window signage advertising the Shake Shack brand has been installed.

The restaurant will feature the restaurant's signature items like the ShackBurger, frozen custard and crinkle cut fries.

Currently, the closest Shake Shack nearby is in Skokie, Ill. There are also several locations in the city of Chicago.

Shake Shack was founded in 2004 with its original location in New York City's Madison Square Park. It has grown significantly since then and now has locations in 18 states and other countries.
