SOUTH MILWAUKEE -- A family in South Milwaukee lost four pets in a house fire Monday evening.
The fire started around 8:13 p.m. at a home in the 1200 block of Minnesota Avenue.
When fire officials arrived to the scene, they found smoke coming from the west side of the home. Fire crews could not find anyone in the house so neighboring fire departments were called to assist. The fire was extinguished and it was determined the family was not home.
The American Red Cross was called to take care of the displaced family.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
