MILWAUKEE -- A suspect in an armed robbery engaged in a shootout with police after a car chase on Milwaukee south side Tuesday night.
Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn said the 32-year-old suspect robbed a business near 15th Street and Lincoln Avenue, and police later chased the suspect in connection with that crime.
The suspect crashed his car near 9th Street and Cleveland Avenue, got out of the car and shot at police. Officers returned fire, but they are not sure if they hit the suspect.
The suspect ran away, and police are currently searching with a K-9 unit.
Flynn called the suspect a "serious criminal," adding he is a convicted felon and is wanted for two other felonies.
Police found two guns at the scene. One in the car and one near the car.
No officers were shot or hurt in the incident.
