A standoff in Riverwest involving a 27-year-old man suspected to have a gun on a roof ended without gunfire Tuesday.
Milwaukee police responded near Holton and Burleigh, bringing the Bearcat armored carrier, to try to capture the man.
Officers eventually ran into the building and ran up to the roof, where they tackled the suspect and took him into custody.
Residents surrounding the scene applauded that he was not shot. Police said a gun was recovered.
The reason for the man going to the roof is still unclear.
