WAUWATOSA -- Mayfair Mall was shut down for less than an hour Saturday afternoon as the latest group of protesters marched through the halls.
They're demanding police release the video of the officer-involved shooting of Jay Anderson Jr.
Wauwatosa police said at least 40 people joined the march at Mayfair.
Store managers tell TODAY'S TMJ4 it was peaceful. Demonstrators chanted, "Justice for Jay" as security guards and police officers looked on.
The problem began when the group went outside. Police said they were blocking Mayfair Road from North Avenue to Center Street, and that's when officers threatened to make arrests. Demonstrators left the scene before any arrests were made, but they promised to return another day.
“And until we get justice, it’s gonna be a long day for everyone," Gregory Chambers said.
Chambers said protesters will be filing a formal request with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office on Tuesday to try to obtain the video of Jay Anderson Jr.'s shooting death.
Police said protesting in the street is a safety hazard. There are two nearby hospitals, and police say streets also need to stay open, to ensure that patients needing to get to Froedtert or Children's Hospital can do so.
