Sheriff David Clarke and President Trump have something in common - they love to tweet. PolitiFact Wisconsin put one of Clarke's favorite tweet targets to the Truth-O-Meter.
?
Sheriff Clarke recently tweeted: "Michelle Obama said she was never proud of her country til they elected her husband POTUS." He then added. "I've never been prouder since we got rid of him."
?
"The sheriff is wrong on a couple of points," said Tom Kertscher with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
?
PolitiFact Wisconsin says Clarke was referring to a 2008 speech by Michelle Obama in Wisconsin during the primary battle, when she was talking about hope making a comeback.

"For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change," said Michelle Obama.
?
At the time some conservatives did criticize her comments. A day later, she clarified by saying she always had pride in her country.
?
"But what she was referring to was the fact that in her view, as the campaign was progressing, more Americans were, as she put it, hungry for change," said Kertscher.
?
Michelle Obama made the comment nine months before her husband was elected, not after, as Sheriff Clarke claimed.

"He mischaracterized what Michelle Obama said and when she said it," said Kertscher.
?
PolitiFact Wisconsin rated Sheriff Clarke's claim False.
?
PolitiFact Wisconsin asked Sheriff Clarke for a response. His spokeswoman sent an email saying, "Go suck an egg." Clarke complained that when he does provide evidence for his claims - PolitiFact still finds a way to say false.
