RACINE -- A 20-year-old man was fatally shot in Racine shortly before midnight Sunday.
Racine police responded to the 1600 block of Phillips Avenue after gunshots were reported being heard in the area.
The victim has been identified as Dashaun Jordan of Racine. His was located in an alley near a gas station in the area, police said.
Several neighbors heard the gunfire in the middle of the night.
"There's always shootings over here, but I was shocked to hear it was right next to the store though," said Elsie Hunter, who is a longtime resident in this neighborhood. "They have cameras all around,"
The shooting happened right behind AD United Petroleum and right across the street from a police community station.There are several cameras in the area, but police are not saying if the crime was caught on video.
"The people shooting guns don't care. There's a police house right there and they still shoot all over the place," said Hunter.
