Two Pick ’n Save stores in the Milwaukee metro area will close this summer, TODAY'S TMJ4's business partner the Milwaukee Business Journal is reporting.

The Pick ’n Save supermarkets in New Berlin, 13995 W. National Ave., and Pewaukee, 601 Ryan St., will shut down by June 16, according to a statement obtained by the Milwaukee Business Journal from Pick ’n Save parent Roundy's Inc.

The Milwaukee Business Journal reports that approximately 125 workers will be affected by the closures.

"On May 12, 2017, we informed our New Berlin-Sunnyslope (68 employees) and Pewaukee-Ryan (59 employees) Pick ’n Save employees that after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of these two stores, our efforts did not bring about the results needed to meet our business goals and objectives," the statement read.

The company said every employee at the closing stores will be offered an opportunity to work at a nearby Pick 'n Save store. The other Pick 'n Save stores in New Berlin, 15445 W National Ave., and Pewaukee, 1405 Capitol Drive, will remain open.

In December 2015, Pick ’n Save parent Roundy's was acquired by the Cincinnati grocery chain Kroger Co. Since then, the grocery giant has rolled out a series of changes at its new Wisconsin supermarkets, including an expanded product selection and store renovations.

You can read about those changes in the cover story of the most recent edition of the Milwaukee Business Journal.

Over the past year, Roundy's has closed stores in Milwaukee, Kimberly and Madison.
