Pabst Brewing Co. is launching a new microbrewery and taproom at the site of the historic brewery this May.
After leaving the site on W. Juneau Ave in 1996, Pabst Brewing Co. has decided to move back to the area. The brewery, taproom, and restaurant will be called the Pabst Milwaukee Brewery.
According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, “the main floor at the brewery will hold a taproom and an upscale gastropub. A beer garden is also planned for the south end of the building.”
Pabst expects to brew 4,000 barrels a year at the site. Brewing will begin this month.
Pabst began brewing in Milwaukee in 1844, and was eventually bought by a California-based company S&P Co. in 1985, which ultimately moved the Pabst brewing to other locations.
