Milwaukee police, West Allis police and the Drug Enforcement Administration were involved in a shoot out Thursday night on Milwaukee's North side, and a suspect was shot and killed by one of the officers.

According to Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn, authorities were attempting to capture a drug suspect on 19th Street, north of Hampton Avenue in Milwaukee. He said the attempt was based on an investigation by a drug task force.

Flynn said officers were confronted by a suspect with a gun, and shots were fired, though it was not clear who fired first. The suspect was killed, and his gun was taken by police.

Flynn did not take questions Thursday night to provide additional details. We will update this story when we have more information.

No officers were hurt in the incident.
