NWS: Late season tornado touched down on Madison's east side

MADISON, Wis. -- The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in the Madison area Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service’s preliminary damage assessment, an EF 0 tornado with winds of 70-80 mph was on the ground for five miles and approximately ten minutes.

The tornado formed along East Washington Avenue on Madison’s east side and tracked northeast to the I-39/90 interstate. It was on the ground from about 4:58 p.m. to 5:08 p.m.

No injuries were reported with the storm.
