New surveillance video shows what happened before a 4-year-old was left overnight in a van at a Milwaukee tow lot.

The video shows the van was first parked along Forest Home Avenue for hours. The driver who was later arrested for an OWI pulled the vehicle over herself and flagged down a county bus.

Later that night a woman is arrested for OWI and her 10-month-old child is taken into the care of Milwaukee Police. But the 4-year-old in the vehicle is missed and left alone all night.

The video shows around 9:55 p.m. Monday you see the woman pulled over on the side of Forest Home Avenue near 39th Street. She leans out the driver side window and gets the attention of a Milwaukee County Transit System bus.

The bus pulls up next to the van and the woman gets out to talk to the bus driver. Ten minutes later, the MCTS bus pulls in front of the van and the woman gets out carrying a child.

  • At 10:08 p.m. a fire truck pulls up with their lights flashing.
  • At 10:18 p.m. an ambulance arrives.
  • Around 11 p.m. a police officer is seen looking at the van.
  • At nearly midnight it is towed away.

The whole time a 4-year-old is in the back.

TODAY'S TMJ4 did reach out to Milwaukee Police for a comment on what happened. So far they have not said anything in the days since it happened except they are grateful the child was found unharmed.
